Gen Z is making reading books cool again. If you ever wondered why our co-founder Oaklin Mixon wanted to get into publication, it’s because, as usual, he was ahead of the curve.
POSITIVE THINKING: THE BENEFITS OF WRITING
A series of studies over 30 years demonstrate numerous health benefits from writing, including improved memory function, decreased symptomatology, and greater feelings of happiness, as well as the ability to “heal emotional wounds.”
Even more interesting is that this isn’t reserved for those of us who write professionally. Cognitive psychologist James Pennebaker observed that short-term, focused writing can “benefit anyone.”
…from persons who are dealing with terminal illness, victims of violent crime, or new college students struggling with the transition from high school…[t]hese brief expressive writing episodes have led participants to report feeling happier and less negative than prior to their writing experience, and having fewer symptoms of depression and anxiety.
